Job Description

We are hiring a well-rounded Digital Marketing & SEO Specialist to manage all search engine optimization, social media and online marketing activities.

You will be responsible for managing all SEO activities for key clients such as content strategy, link building and keyword strategy to increase rankings on all major search networks. You will also manage all SEM campaigns on Google, Yahoo and Bing in order to maximize ROI.


  • Perform keyword and competitor analysis, collect and analyze data, identify trends and insights in order to achieve maximum ROI in paid search campaigns.
  • Track, report, and analyze website analytics, PPC initiatives, ad campaigns and conversions.
  • Manage campaign expenses, staying on budget, estimating monthly costs and reconciling discrepancies.
  • Optimize copy and landing pages for search engine marketing.
  • Perform ongoing keyword discovery, expansion and optimization.
  • Research and implement search engine optimization recommendations.
  • Research and analyze competitor advertising links.
  • Develop and implement link building strategy.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies for a business's social media sites. This might include blogging, creating social media profiles, managing regular posts and responding to followers.
  • Responsible for social media ad campaigns, target audience, demographics and budgets.


  • Proven experience managing website SEO and reporting.
  • Proven experience managing professional social media accounts and campaigns
  • Proven experience managing SEM / PPC campaigns on Google. Yahoo and Bing are a plus.
  • Solid understanding of performance marketing, conversion, and online customer acquisition.
  • In-depth experience with website analytics tools (e.g, Google Analytics).
  • Experience with A/B testing and multivariate experiments.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS development and constraints.
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in SEO, Social Media and SEM.

Who's The New Girl?

Born in Malaysia on October 19, 1994, and standing at 5-feet-2.5-inches tall, we are delighted to welcome Emin Terng to our team!

Office Nickname: "Easy E"

She graduated in December 2015 after earning a B.S. degree in Communications Media at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Landing a career with our company has been an epic journey for Emin that began last winter when she made her way to our doorstep.


Here's Her Story
Struggling to secure a summer internship, Emin began researching Virginia Beach web companies. She created a list of the ones that intrigued her the most, and set out to introduce herself to each owner. 

Full of spunk and determination, she came into our studio, marched her way over to Kevin, portfolio in hand, and proceeded to tell him why she should be his new intern. 

Being the open-minded visionary that he is, Kevin needed only a few minutes to contemplate her proposition before agreeing that it was indeed, a fabulous idea. When free talent comes knocking on your door politely asking to ease your workload, you do not refuse!


Why We Drafted the Rookie
It takes a special individual to hop aboard S.S. iD Web with Captain Daisey and his shipmates, yet she fit in perfectly with our outrageously quirky family. After completing her internship here, we chose to take her off the job-market. She gratefully accepted a post-graduation job offer as our newest Graphic Design and Web Developer. She understands that working here isn't all fun and games. Sure we get to have the occasional 4 PM happy hours, company trips and half-days on Friday, but to reap these rewards we do whatever it takes to ensure the happiness of our customers, and the success of our company.

Emin's employment has everything to do with her strong work ethic, and nothing to do with her being Asian - although, her ethnicity does make her uniquely qualified for our trending Asian hires. (Haha, it just happens).


The Outcome
In just under two weeks of being an iD Web employee, she has completed work for Sussex Development Corporation, Frye Properties, EDRS, and H2Outdoors. She designed a sales event slider-image for American Family RV, and is currently building a new website for Construction Technologies Corporation (CTC). She speaks up often, provides her input, and never hesitates to join in on our meetings with clients. 

Round-of-applause to Mr. Daisey's decision to hire her, and Jason for being Teacher of the Year. You guys really know how to create a power-team!


A Libra's Pursuit of Happiness
Easy E's hobbies include - but are not limited to - singing her heart out, dancing to her favorite Eminem album, long walks on the beach, and admiring the beauty and serenity of the great outdoors. She considers Daddy Terng one of her closest friends and favorite traveling buddies.

Sometimes it’s easier to focus on what we don’t have, rather than what we do have. What I do have is an amazing job with a team to match it. I have far too many reasons to list explaining why I am thankful for iD Web, but I want to share eleven of them with you!

Eleven reasons why I am thankful to work for iD Web:

 1. I am thankful to have a career at the coolest company in Virginia Beach.When doing what you love and earning a paycheck go hand-in-hand, you definitely have something to be thankful for.

2. I am thankful to look forward to Monday. Coming to work for a company you are passionate about makes all the difference in the world.

3. I am thankful to work with my friends (rather than “co-workers”) who provide me with endless laughter on a daily basis.

4. I am thankful we always have a pot of coffee brewing.

5. I am thankful for responsibility, creative freedom, and the endless opportunities our boss gives us to continue learning.  

6. I am thankful to be surrounded by people who are motivated to chase their dreams.  

7. I am thankful for the client relationships that have turned into genuine friendships.

8. I am thankful we share office space with Sivils-IT. They are our favorite computer geeks.

9. I am thankful that wearing shoes in the office is rarely permitted. 

10. I am thankful for our new filing cabinet in the office that will help keep us organized!

11. I am thankful that Kevin Daisey is our boss. Hard work is always rewarded with a Friday beer.

Social Media Mistakes Your Business Can Prevent

Social media seems like a simple task, but the reality is that it is difficult to stay on top of the most strategic practices for social media. You don’t need to be an expert to understand the basics, yet I continue to see businesses make preventable mistakes on social media. 

The good news is that you don’t need to be social media saavy to execute a solid marketing plan because you can hire iD Web to help you out! ;) 

If you don’t have the expense to cover paying a company to maintain your accounts, however, being aware of these “seven deadly sins” will make you a better social media marketer for your business. 



1. Inactive Accounts:

More and more brands are creating accounts on social media. While this is a step in the right direction, it isn’t enough to make a difference in your organization’s social media marketing plan. Being active on channels like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest, etc. improves your SEO rankings and allows consumers to find you more consistently when searching in Google. An inactive Facebook account says your company does not care about being up to speed with today’s technology. 

2. Incomplete Profiles:

Another common mistake is not filling in your profile with information about your company. To make a positive and memorable impression on potential customers you need to give them a reason to connect with your brand. Most people search online for companies before doing business with them. Don’t give them a reason to go to your competitors because you didn’t take the time to add a profile picture, company description, and contact information.

3. Too Sales Focused:

Do you enjoy being sold to or do you want to make the decision on your own? Constantly promoting the latest products and services your business has to offer is a quick and easy way to lose followers. Social media should enhance your brand’s credibility and attract leads in gradually. Being too sales focused is one of the biggest mistakes businesses make on social media. Work on building a good reputation and loyal fan base by sharing information without expecting a sale in return.

4. Over posting:

Overwhelming your followers by posting too much is just as annoying as being sold to. Posting numerous times a day on Twitter is acceptable, but highly frowned upon on platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn. Don’t bombard people with a ton of meaningless posts from your business account.

5. Grammatical Errors:

Another way you are driving consumers away from your company is by making silly spelling and grammatical errors in your posts. Not paying close attention to the material you are sharing gives the impression that your company is lazy. Don’t compromise the professionalism of your brand by using verbal shortcuts and not proof reading your work. Prepare your material in advance and make sure that it clearly communicates the message you want to send. 

 6. Social Media Automation

Because each social media outlet has a unique way of engaging with fans, using automation tools to update your business accounts is a terrible mistake for your social media marketing strategy. Content that performs well on Facebook may not deliver the same results on a different platform. When it comes to sharing quality content, one size does not fit all. Take the time to modify posts for the network it is being shared on.  

7. Ignoring Negative Feedback:

Failing to engage with your customers when they have a complaint is one of the worst mistakes your company can make. Social media makes it easy to respond to feedback promptly, and by doing so you create a trusted brand. Work to resolve the issue when clients have a negative experience. In doing so, you show the public that you care about your customers and the integrity of your company. Embrace negative feedback from your clients!

Websites from the Past

Whether you were into chocker necklaces, platform shoes, or wearing scrunchies in your hair, we all had one thing in common: the golden age of dial-up Internet!

Surfing the web in the ‘90s and 2000s was totally rad. Do you remember what websites looked like back then? Looking at the earliest versions of websites for major brands is hilarious. What better time to reminisce on the poor use of screen space, neon border effects and scrolling marquees than on #FlashbackFriday!

The websites I found using the Wayback Machine, an Internet archive, have elements that inspired new design trends today. Take a walk with me down memory lane!


1. Google’s Simplistic Interface Design (1997)

When Google first launched in 1997, they lacked a webmaster. No one knew HTML. The first thing users saw when visiting the site was the huge, colorful logo and a search bar. Although it may have been considered boring in the ‘90s for its absence of creative design and flying text, Google’s purpose was clear. People came to the site to search the World Wide Web for whatever their heart desired. Today, Google sets the standard for its sleekness and other than improving functionality, the website really hasn’t changed much over the last two decades.

2. Apple’s First Website (1997)

Young Apple users may not remember a time before iPhones and Apple Watches, but in the late ‘90s Steve Jobs redefined the Internet age. When first unveiled in 1997, Apple’s site included stories on Mac products and the company’s expertise. They had the right idea about educating consumers through testimonials added on the webpage. The site had a navigation menu on the left, making it incredibly easy for users to find the information they were looking for. Apple was, and still is, exceptional at differentiating themselves from other competing brands. They always seem to be one step ahead of the rest of the world.

3. Interactive Gilmore Girls Website (2004)

About 13 years ago, Gilmore Girls was a favorite television series for many college females and mothers. The Gilmore Girls’ website featured flashy illustrations, large imagery, creative patterns and vibrant colors that captured your attention. Rory and Lorelai’s story was told through the trendy use of design and a slideshow of photos.



4. McDonalds Landing Page (1996)

McDonalds’ website in 1996 was not at all complex. It was simplified using flat design which is a huge trend today for creating a classic website. Flat design uses clean, open space, bright colors and two-dimensional graphics. Though the red was incredibly difficult to read and look at, it was used to create passionate brand loyalists. Before call-to-action buttons were developed, McDonald's provided a link for viewers to explore further into their website. Despite the harsh color choices, McDonald's was successful in engaging consumers through its first website.



5. Clinton/Gore Presidential Campaign Site (1996)

Political campaigns today have taken a turn in how they interact with voters through social media, online donations, videos and blogging, all of which can now be incorporated onto a website. Having a website is an indispensable part of promoting a campaign for those running for office. In 1996, President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore sought to “build a bridge to the 21st century” and their website was one way they accomplished this goal. They also used a split layout that is popular in web design today. The page was split vertically to separate pieces of information and usually involves contrasting light and dark color schemes. This was a great way to engage with voters and assist them in their decision-making.



6. Space Jam’s Promotional Website (1996)

Space Jam’s 1996 website created rich, user-experience and was successful in promoting the film to consumers. Warner Brother’s developed this cheesy, intergalactic website that can still be accessed today. I love the creative layout and the simple navigation of the site. Each planet leads to another page, and if you click on the Space Jam logo in the top left corner, it directs you back to the homepage like all websites should do today.




The Internet has evolved so much over the last few years and has opened up many new marketing channels for businesses attracting new customers. Having a website for your business adds instant credibility and educates the world about what your brand has to offer. It is wonderful to get inspiration from these websites from the past, but use this list to make sure your site isn’t stuck in the wrong decade. Contact us for help!
